Welcome to the north of Moldova!

Discover the North of Moldova with spectacular nature and architectural monuments full of history. The cave at Criva, the northernmost point of the country at Naslavcea, mansions and the old churches at Drochia, Bocancea, as well as the Țaul park are worth a visit. And if you miss a little noise and color, stop by Soroca – the capital of the Roma in Moldova. Give a phone call in advance, maybe even the baron of the Roma will welcome you for a visit, with a snack cooked by the baroness.

What can you see in the north of the country?

We are a small country in South-Eastern Europe. Our neighbors are Romania and Ukraine. Most of the territory of the Republic of Moldova lies between two rivers: Dniester and Prut.
Hundred Mounds – Meeting our Geth ancestors
Even if Moldova seems small to you, every corner can tell you a story. A must-see is the Hundred Mounds. Legend has it that these were the tombs of the Geths, and later turned into a system for transmitting alerts when danger was near.
The city of Balti – the capital of the North
Also called the capital of the North, Balti is the second largest city in Moldova. On the streets of the town, different architectural styles dance a special cultural chorus. Being in the middle of it, you will be impressed by the constructions according to the Romanian interwar, Soviet and neo-Romanian model.

In the North of the Republic of Moldova, Duruitoarea, a tributary of the Ciugur River has dug a deep gorge in the Toltre, embellished with steep calcareous slopes and rocks. This exact spot once housed a Stone Age settlement. Inside, the cave is divided into 3 rooms, with a total length of 49 meters.
If you go to the north of Moldova, make a stop at the Barza Albă Divin distillery. Learn how some of the most renowned divines are produced and matured in oak barrels. Take part in the tasting, but beware that there are exactly 10 types of divin plus an apple cider.

See the south of Moldova

Lovers of oeno-culinary, ethno-cultural and natural discoveries, go to the south of Moldova! Here you will find a multitude of interesting destinations to explore. And don’t forget your bathing suit to put in your backpack. Go to Slobozia Mare, where Lake Beleu will fascinate you with its diversity of birds and water lilies.

Gagăuzia

Gagauzia will amaze you with its energy, traditions and people. Even though it is geographically in Moldova, it is a small island culturally different from the rest of the country. One of the most interesting things about the Gagauz is the fact that they are a people culturally close to the Turks, but by denomination they are Orthodox Christians.

Comrat

Comrat will first conquer you through gastronomy. Gagauz cuisine is unique, it is based on the nomadic past of the Gagauz people, that is, you can learn their history by enjoying their dishes. Lamb meat, cooked for several hours in a cauldron, or ribs smeared with hot pepper paste and other spices – all the flavors lead to Comrat.

Kara Gani

A different kind of Moldova can be tasted in Vulcănești, where various ethnic groups live, with their own, unique culture. In the Gagauz, noise, goodwill, hospitality and generosity are placed at the head of the table. And the Kara Gani winery in Vulcanesti has all of them on the menu, plus a glass of good wine. Ours is the rosé.

The center of Moldova

Discover the center of Moldova for adventures with small doses of adrenaline or oeno-culinary. Add to that a dose of spirituality from our old monasteries. You can go hiking and biking in Plaiul Fagului, through Codrii Moldovei, rock climbing at Orheiul Vechi or kayaking on the Dniester.
It is the most interesting place to visit if you are interested in folk crafts and know the price of hand woven carpets.
The craft complex “Art rustic”
The natural reserve Plaiul Fagului is located northwest of Chisinau, near the town of Ungheni. It is an area rich in flora and fauna, home to over 900 plant species.
