RESULTS OF THE SURVEY: “THE PERCEPTION OF MOLDOVA AS A TOURIST DESTINATION BY FOREIGN VISITORS”

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the perception of the Republic of Moldova as a tourist destination, identifying the components for the SWOT analysis based on the perception of tourists and determining the Net Promoter Score (NPS). To achieve this objective, a quantitative research was carried out, with a sample of 606 respondents. The interviews were conducted at different locations, such as the airport, the border with Romania, the Cricova winery and in PMAN (Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau), between 07.10.2018 and 21.10.2018, including during the National Day of Wine and anniversary of the city. The results of the study were analyzed and compared with those from surveys conducted in 2018, 2016 and 2012.

The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the post-pandemic tourist profile and the perception of the Republic of Moldova as an authentic tourist destination in Eastern Europe, according to the methodology proposed by the World Tourism Organization.

The study was carried out by the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the National Association for Inbound and Domestic Tourism and with the strategic support of the USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project in Moldova. This approach represents a crucial measure in the implementation of strategic objectives for strengthening Moldova’s position in the field of tourism, thus supporting its development and competitiveness in this sector.
